Conceived and promoted by the AIUFFASS association, in collaboration with a research team coordinated by Prof. Arturo Dell’Acqua Bellavitis of the School of Design of the Milan Polytechnic. The project celebrates fashion product innovation between lining and tailoring with the presentation of a capsule collection of 12 contemporary designed jackets. Brunello linings became part of this capsule of which Essentials made-in-Italy components and the originality of the young people from around the world who took part in the initiative.
There are several elements of strong originality in this project proposed at the Politecnico di Milano that mobilized students from the Industrial Design Department. The first is. the product at the heart of the proposal, the lining made from the continuous cellulosic fibers. A product that is not only indispensable in the construction of an off-the-shoulder garment, provides it with texture, supports the fit, guarantees comfort thanks to its extraordinary capacity to absorb moisture, and is an essential component of that beautiful and well-made Made in Italy of which our country is so proud, but which in recent years has also proudly emerged from its usual hiding place inside the garment and has overwhelmingly become an essential element of the garment itself; a tool for diversification and customization with exceptional potential .
The second element is the liner production chain: a chain made up of several small links, all strongly interconnected, all indispensable in giving know-how and quality, so much so that if one jumps, the whole system grinds to a halt. This supply chain exists, unique in Europe, and involves 2,000 people. A treasure that is also partly hidden, of extraordinary skills that cannot be acquired elsewhere, so sought after by both Italian and foreign designers who find here what is considered impossible elsewhere. A world that believes in what it does, that still lives by passion for its work and dedication to its companies.
A third element of originality concerns the young people who worked on the project. Young people from all over the world, so heterogeneous from each other, but so surprisingly united by their desire to do, to grow, to understand, to emerge, to confront reality, and the encounter between the academic reality and the productive reality, from which the realizations were born.
